WEEKEND RESPITE CAREGIVER IN BRATTLEBORO, VT
Elijah is a 29 year old man living with cerebral palsy.
He is a dyed in the wool extrovert
who expresses himself with laughter,
smiles and sounds.
He loves going on walks in nature,
visiting with his family, friends
and care givers,
taking bike rides on his quadracycle,
participating in theater activities,
watching movies,
swimming in the pool and he
loves everything music.
Elijah can walk, but he needs hands on assistance at all times.
He takes verbal directions very well
and will help with transfers.
He communicates with gestures and sounds but very few words.
His team consists of a Shared Living Provider,
a Day support professional, a Case Manager from a local agency, and his parents.
His team is looking to hire someone who is caring,
attentive, physically strong and interested in becoming part of the team.
Training will be provided.
We are looking to cover
~4 hours on Saturday and
~4 hours on Sunday
More hours may be available
on an as needed basis.
Starting pay is $20/hour.
The work is physically demanding as it involves
hands-on participation with all daily living tasks such as:
Going to the bathroom
Bathing and grooming
Dressing and undressing
Eating and drinking
Walking and moving around
Getting in and out of the car/chair/bed
Yet interpersonal connection is important to also have:
Pleasant and stimulating social interactions and
creative time together
